SBIDA’s Ethan Loughrey learnt to dance there under the tutelage of the school’s founder, Mrs Bernadette Groogan – who also happens to be his granny (better known as ‘Nanny’). In addition he was taught by Jacqueline Groogan (his mum), and family friends Marian O’Doherty and Julie Breslin.

Today, the school also produced dancing teachers from four of Mrs. Groogan’s grandchildren. They make up a part of the seriously impressive 16 17 dancing teachers who Mrs Groogan has put through their teaching exams since she began herself as a founding member of An Comhdhail, All Ireland champion and pupil of the great Master, Seamus Kerrigan.
